Method 1: Restore Wireless Network Key through Network Settings

Step 1: Press Windows Key and R key together from the keyboard to open a run command window.

Step 2: In the search bar of a run window, type ncpa.cpl and press ok. It will open Network Connections.

Step 3: Next, click on Wireless adapter option and select the Status.

Step 4: Go to the Wi-Fi Status window and click on Wireless Properties.

Step 5: Now go to Security tab and click on the box of Show characters.

Step 6: Jot down the password and recover the password that you forget.

Method 2: Using Elevated Command Prompt

Step 1: Press Windows Key and X key together to open the Command Prompt as an Admin. You can open it using search bar also. Type cmd and select command prompt and right click on it and choose run as administrator.

Step 2: Now, in the black window type the command given below and press Type the following command into cmd and hit Enter:

netsh wlan show profile

Step 3: Above command will find and list each wifi profile that you were once connected. So you will know the password of each specific network. To know particular networks password type substitute the “Network_name” with the WiFi network you want to reveal the password. Type the following command in the command prompt and press enter:

netsh wlan show profile “network_name” key=clear

Step 4: Scroll down to the security section, and you will get your Wi-Fi password.

Method 3: Recover Wireless Password using Router Settings

Step 1: First, connect your pc or laptop with Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi.

Step 2: Now in the browser, type the following IP address and press enter:

192.168.1.1 (Netgear, D-Link, Linksys, Actiontec, and more)
192.168.0.1 (Netgear, D-Link, Belkin, and more)
192.168.2.1 (Linksys and more)

Step 3: Now it will ask for the username and password for your network, type “admin” in both fields but if it didn’t work then try “password” in a field of a password.

Step 4: Now as you log-in to your account, you can change username and password from the Wireless Security tab.

Step 5: Your router will restart after changing the password. If it automatically not restart do manually.
